Every year children learn new things at school. This year, they should learn how to use the mask correctly, after you learn it first!
The fabric mask, when worn correctly, creates a barrier that reduces the droplets ejected from the mouths of others. These droplets play an important role in the spread of the coronavirus, because they can infect a healthy person without having touched something contaminated with their hands.
Masks also protect children from other children who may have the coronavirus but have not shown any symptoms, but are within less than 2 meters-they can still travel the droplets when someone sneezes, coughs or speaks loudly.
To be effective, a mask should teach your child that it should:
-Cover both the mouth and the nose.
-Fit tightly but not excessively on the edges of the face.
-Have several layers of fabric, ideally more than three.
-Allow breathing without difficulty.
-Be washed and dried carefully after prolonged use.
Don't forget another benefit of wearing a mask for your child: They won't constantly touch their mouth and face, another way the coronavirus can easily spread.
