Body Care Items: The Tools of the Routine

Every care routine needs two things: the formulas and the tools. This category covers the latter, along with some general-use products that don't fit anywhere else. Sponges, loofahs, brushes, nail cutters, tweezers, loofahs, eyebrow tweezers, but also multipurpose oils or creams that go into the caddy and stay there for years.

It's the category that one buys once and forgets. And that's where the mistake lies. A sponge that stays permanently in the shower, a nail cutter that's never cleaned or a loofah two years old are not neutral objects. The humidity and temperature of the bathroom are ideal for microbial growth, so cleaning and replacing these items is part of the care, not a detail.

What's there and what is it for

Sponges and loofahs

Natural sponges are soft and suitable for sensitive skin. Natural loofahs exfoliate more intensely and help with back and legs. Konjac sponges are the mildest of all and work with minimal soap.

Nail and eyebrow tools

Tweezers, tweezers, multi-sided loofahs, eyebrow tweezers with angled nose. The quality of the steel is immediately visible: a good tool cuts cleanly without tearing.

Multipurpose products

Oils and creams that cover many needs at the same time, from dryness on elbows to after-sun care.

Aromatic mists

Light sprays for hair and body, that freshen up without the heaviness of a perfume. A separate collection can be found in Body Mist.

How to choose correctly

• Sponge material: natural for softness, synthetic for foam, konjac for sensitive skin.
• Stainless steel in nail tools, because it doesn't rust and is easily disinfected.
• Angled nose in eyebrow tweezers, which grabs the hair from the root in one go.
• Size and handle, so that the tool can be easily controlled with wet hands.
• Simple composition in multipurpose products, without unnecessary fragrances if the skin is irritated.
• Hanging ability in sponges and loofahs, so that they dry between uses.

Brands you'll encounter

The Beauty Spring covers most of the tools, with nail cutters, tweezers, loofahs, tweezers, natural sponges and loofahs at affordable prices. The Vican Konjac offers cleansing sponges with clay, while the BIO OIL PurCellin is one of the most recognizable multipurpose oils on the shelf. The Frezyderm Holistic line with propolis, calendula and balm herb is for sensitive skin, the Synchroline Terproline for skin quality and the Aloe+ Colors for aromatic mists.

Cleaning and replacement

Rinse sponges thoroughly after each use and let them dry outside the shower. Wash the loofah with soap once a week and replace it every two months, or sooner if it changes color or smells. Nail tools are cleaned with alcohol after use and are not shared with others. Konjac sponges need to be replaced every six to eight weeks. Combine them with the appropriate soap, a moisturizing body cream after the shower and tools for nail care.

Frequently asked questions

When do I change my bath sponge?

Synthetic every two months, natural every three to four months with proper drying, konjac every six to eight weeks.

How do I disinfect nail cutters and tweezers?

Wash with soap, good drying and wipe with alcohol. Never keep in wet caddy.

Is the body brush on dry skin good?

It gives a sense of toning and helps the skin texture to look smoother. Use it with gentle movements, two or three times a week, not on irritated skin.

Can I use the loofah every day?

Better not. Two or three times a week is enough, otherwise the skin is strained and dried out.

Which eyebrow tweezer to choose?

With angled nose for general use and with pointed tip only for very fine or broken hairs.
