Every summer we relax with hours under the hot sun. Sunscreen is essential before but also after leaving the house since it protects our skin from a large percentage of harmful solar radiation.
There are a plethora of products on the market that promise full coverage, waterproof protection and much more. However, you should be very careful and examine the sunscreen label carefully before investing in it.
Some myths that have been created in recent years regarding sun exposure do not reflect reality in any way.
1) Sunscreen offers 100% protection
This is not true since during midday hours the sun rays are very harmful to the skin. Although sunscreen protects you to a great extent, you should strictly avoid sun exposure from 12 pm to 4 pm.
2) Some sunscreens protect you for 24 hours
3) Some sunscreens are waterproof
The FDA does not recognize the term waterproof. Of course, sunscreen needs to be renewed after swimming and the more often the better. In the summer, water and sweat are negative factors and as a result, sunscreen loses much of its effectiveness. The more often you renew it, the more you will be protected from solar radiation.
