Returning to School Amid a Pandemic: What You Need from the Pharmacy

Returning to school after the summer is always difficult. This year, however, things are very special. We are not just talking about a period of adjustment from the holidays and the relief they offer, but also about facing a pandemic for which no one was prepared.

What was known from the very first moment, however, was that we had to follow a series of measures. In places of high congestion, such as schools, especially, those present must take even stricter measures.

Social distancing must be the first thing they look at. Not coming into very close contact with those around them and, at the same time, giving special emphasis to the issue of cleanliness and disinfection.

Beyond the classic and selected handwashing, which is one of the most effective ways against the spread of microorganisms, other important steps should not be neglected:

- While someone is within the school premises, they must always have hand sanitizer wipes with them, so that at any time they can pass their skin through them. Before eating the food, after having touched a doorknob, generally when they touch any surface.

- The use of the mask is essential, so either you must stock up on single-use masks or reusable fabric ones that can be washed and reused. This depends on the discretion of each person and how practical they find one or the other version.

- The antistatic hand gels can do the job of the wipes, giving the possibility of dispensing more material on larger surfaces, such as chairs and desks.

- What they should not forget is not to share their personal items with others, as this is one of the easiest ways to get infected. Very often we touch our mouth or face and, afterwards, a tissue or mobile phone, so droplets are easily transferred from surface to surface.
