Choosing a diaper:

Forget about marketing because what good is a pretty diaper that doesn't functionally cover the baby and ends up sending countless clothes to the washing machine. In addition, besides being safe and absorbent, the diaper must also be hypoallergenic so as not to irritate the baby's sensitive skin.
Choosing the right diaper size:
It is very important but we often overlook that if we don't choose the right diaper size, we are sure to end up with unwanted leaks. The right diaper should not be too big or too small, and should be chosen based on the baby's weight and height. And let's not forget, we often need to check if the baby still needs the diaper size we have or if we need to move up to the next one.
Do you need a changing mat?
The familiar changing mat is convenient but not necessary. Diaper changing can be done anywhere and it is important to pay attention to the safety of the child on it. We never leave a baby alone on the changing mat and we are very careful about how we change them. It sounds silly but a baby can easily fall off the changing mat.
When do we change a diaper?
Newborns change diapers several times a day, as they soil almost every time they eat. For older children, we certainly change diapers in the evening before sleep and in the morning when they wake up. In between, the diaper should not smell or be heavy.
How do we change a diaper?
- We turn diaper changing into a ritual, arm ourselves with courage and patience, and place the baby upside down.
- We make sure the room temperature is good so the baby doesn't cry too much.
- We have the necessary baby wipes at hand. Diaper changing cream and a towel, so we don't have to wait for the baby.
- We open the tabs of the diaper, the so-called safety tapes on the right and left, and always clean the baby from front to back. If we have a boy, we take care with a baby wipe to keep his genitals low to avoid accidents.
- We take care of the time of the change, talk to the baby, smile, sing, give a colorful toy to the child and generally distract him so he doesn't think the process is boring and forced.
- We fold and throw the diaper in a bin or if we don't have a special bin nearby, we leave the diaper aside to throw it later.
We open the clean diaper and place it under the baby, keeping the legs up. We close the safety tabs on the right and left so that they fit between the baby's skin and the diaper with our hand.

To prevent the baby from diaper rash, we need to change the diaper in a timely manner. At the same time, we need to clean the baby in the sensitive area thoroughly and dry the skin after cleaning by patting gently and applying a protective cream against diaper rash.
