Bepanthol Baby Balm 200gr: the economical package for baby and mom

The Bepanthol Baby Balm 200gr is the largest package in the range, with 5% provitamin B5, without mercury, fragrance, dyes or preservatives. It is the same rich ointment as the smaller sizes, in a quantity double that of the 100 gram jar.

It is the logical choice for two cases: when the product has become a regular part of the diaper change routine, and when the same jar serves both the baby and the breastfeeding mother. The manufacturer explicitly presents it as ointment for baby’s diaper rash and at the same time suitable for the breastfeeding mother, which is why it is found in the store both in diaper changing and in breast and nipple care.

Why the same ointment suits the nipple too

The nipple and areola also have thin skin with a minimal protective layer, which during breastfeeding undergoes mechanical stress dozens of times a day, while between feedings it constantly alternates between wet and dry. This cycle dehydrates the area and makes it more sensitive to friction, in the same way that moisture and friction irritate the skin under the diaper.

The ointment addresses both areas with the same logic. The oily base with lanolin, paraffin and vaseline forms a thin layer that limits moisture loss, while according to the manufacturer it scientifically proven to reduce friction during application. Provitamin B5 retains water in the keratin layer and, according to the manufacturer, supports the natural process of skin repair from within. The manufacturer states that the ointment keeps the sensitive nipple area soft.

Exactly because the product is applied to a point from which the baby is fed, the manufacturer’s rule is clear: breastfeeding mothers remove any residue from the nipple before breastfeeding.

What you get with the 200 gram package

  • Lower cost per gram. It is the most economical size of the range when used daily.
  • One jar for two uses. Diaper area for the baby and nipple area for the mom, without a second product.
  • Fewer purchases. It lasts a long time, useful in the first months when diaper changes are frequent.
  • A constant in the home. The large jar stays in the diaper changing area, while the smaller size travels in the bag.
  • Same formula. Nothing changes in the formula, only the quantity.

Ingredients

Active: 5% provitamin B5 (PANTHENOL).

INCI: AQUA, LANOLIN, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, PETROLATUM, PANTHENOL, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS OIL, CERA ALBA, CETYL ALCOHOL, STEARYL ALCOHOL, OZOKERITE, GLYCERYL OLEATE, LANOLIN ALCOHOL, BHT, TOCOPHEROL.

Does not contain: mercury, fragrance, dyes, preservatives.

Because the product is also used in the nipple area, it is worth noting that it contains lanolin and lanolin alcohol, as well as sweet almond oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis). These are known contact allergens for a small percentage of people. If you have a known allergy to lanolin or nuts, consult your pharmacist or doctor first.

Usage

Form: ointment in a 200gr jar.
Application: “Use it fearlessly many times a day, especially at every diaper change, even for premature newborns. Mothers should remove the residue from the breast before breastfeeding.”

For the baby: on clean and well-dried skin, a thin layer at each diaper change. For the mom: a small amount on the nipple after breastfeeding, removing the residue before the next meal. Because the package is large and will be used for a long time, take the amount with clean hands or with a disposable spatula and close the lid tightly. For external use only, not for eyes and mucous membranes. Store at room temperature, away from sunlight and children.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 200gr worth it compared to the 100gr?

If you use it daily, yes, because the cost per gram is lower. If you need it occasionally, the 100gr or even the 30gr may run out closer to the expiration date without unused product.

Is the composition the same in 30gr, 100gr and 200gr?

Yes. The manufacturer offers the same Baby Balm in three sizes, 30gr, 100gr and 200gr. Only the quantity and packaging change, not the formula.

How long does a 200gr jar last?

It depends on the frequency of diaper changes, the amount per application and whether the mom also uses it. With a thin layer at each diaper change, it clearly lasts longer than the two smaller sizes.

How do I take product from the jar in a hygienic way?

With clean, dry hands or with a single-use spatula, and always with the lid tightly closed. It is important in a large package that opens many times a day.

Do I have to clean the nipple before breastfeeding?

Yes. The manufacturer explicitly states: mothers should remove the residue from the breast before breastfeeding.

Can it be used in pregnancy and breastfeeding?

It is an external cosmetic product, which the manufacturer also recommends for the nipple area during breastfeeding. If you have questions about your own case, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Is it for dry body skin or for atopic skin?

This is not its purpose. It is an ointment for protecting the diaper area and the nipple. For atopic skin, the range has separate products, such as the Bepanthene SensiDaily emollient cream for daily care. Ask your pharmacist.

Can it go on an open wound, scar or mucous membrane?

No. It is a product for intact skin and external use. Open wounds, deep cracks or scars require evaluation by a doctor or pharmacist.

Does it have a medicinal effect?

No. It is a cosmetic care and protection product, without cortisone and without antibiotic. If the diaper rash does not subside within a few days or worsens, a pediatrician is needed.
