Glucoprotect by Doctor's Formulas is a dietary supplement in tablets that combines three ingredients, L-carnosine, alpha lipoic acid and thiamine, i.e. vitamin B1. In recent years it has been the subject of research for its role in protein chemistry and in the regulation of pH within the muscle cell. The data come mainly from laboratory and preclinical models and the study in humans is in progress.
Alpha lipoic acid is a sulfur-containing organic acid that is produced in small amounts by the body itself and is found in foods such as liver, spinach and broccoli. Its peculiarity is that it is both water-soluble and fat-soluble, which is why it is described in the literature as a molecule that moves in all compartments of the cell. It acts as a cofactor of mitochondrial enzymes of metabolism. It remains a substance under investigation, without an approved health claim in the European Union.
Thiamine is the only ingredient in the formula with approved health claims. It participates in the conversion of carbohydrates into energy that the cell can use. It contributes to normal energy metabolism*, normal functioning of the nervous system*, normal psychological function*, i.e. mood and concentration, and normal heart function*.
Dihydrate diphosphoric calcium, microcrystalline cellulose and pregelatinized corn starch as fillers, magnesium stearate as anti-caking agent. According to the manufacturer, the product does not contain preservatives, gluten, yeast, fragrances, colors, dyes or sweeteners.
Glucoprotect is intended for adults who want targeted coverage in vitamin B1 and are interested in a formula with carnosine and alpha lipoic acid. Since it is taken only one tablet per day, it is suitable for those who have difficulty with multiple doses. It is not suitable for those with known allergy to lipoic acid, carnosine or thiamine. It does not replace a balanced diet, medication or follow-up by your doctor.
