The LACTOFER Iron Formula

is a dietary supplement containing iron, lactoferrin, copper and vitamins C, B9 (folic acid) and B12. It contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells, hemoglobin and to normal blood formation. It also contributes to the normal transport of iron in the body as well as the transport of oxygen and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

The iron present in the LACTOFER Iron Formula,
thanks to the micro2 [microencapsulated & micronized mineral salts] technology of Dr. Paul Lohmann®,
ensures a smaller particle size (d90: approximately 300 μΜ), improved functionality and bioavailability.

Through a uniquely developed coating process, the mineral salts are covered with a layer of vegetable fat. Thanks to this encapsulation technology, the mineral salts retain their natural characteristics and offer significant benefits, making ferrous sulfate, which is very active, bioavailable.

Thus, the unpleasant iron disturbances are eliminated, such as the strong metallic taste, while there is improved flow, dosage control and stomach tolerance, due to the controlled release of the metal within the digestive system.

LACTOFERRIN (LF) is a multifunctional protein of the transferrin family

  • Component of the immune system
  • Involved in iron transport
  • Regulates iron absorption

In healthy individuals, almost all iron released into the plasma binds to transferrin, limiting the production of iron-catalyzed free radicals and facilitating transport to target cells.
Iron can be stored intracellularly as ferritin, a spherical heteropolymer capable of storing more than 4,000 iron atoms.

However, iron's role is dual, on the one hand it keeps us alive and on the other it can cause harmful effects. Therefore, organisms have developed complex mechanisms to ensure the permanent control of its levels.

The binding of free iron ions is of decisive importance for the protection of cellular components from uncontrolled oxidations. There are several substances that play this role. Another protein, similar to transferrin, is lactoferrin, which is present in the LACTOFER Iron Formula, and is found in milk and certain other physiological fluids. It is also released by phagocytes after their stimulation, probably to neutralize the spread of the harmful effects of active oxygen forms in nearby healthy tissue. Like transferrin, it has the ability to bind two Fe3+ per protein molecule.
Lactoferrin plays a key role in a number of first-line defense mechanisms and contributes to a variety of physiological responses at both the cellular and organ levels. Lactoferrin plays a key role in immunological homeostasis and acts to reduce oxidative stress at the molecular level, thereby controlling excessive inflammatory responses.
