Kelp is an open sea seaweed, rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements and especially organic iodine (iodine ascophyllum nodosum mackaii). Iodine is an important trace element for the body, as it is used by the thyroid gland to produce the hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine, which, beyond their many functions, also control metabolism. Its deficiency creates weight gain, lack of energy and mental alertness (cretinism) as well as goiter. Alfalfa leaves are of high nutritional value, rich in vitamins, minerals, protein components, amino acids and chlorophyll.
