Strong formula based on olive and pomegranate with antimicrobial properties, protection and strengthening of the cardiovascular system, skin and joints

The first official reference to the use of olive leaves in medicine dates back to 1854, when Hanbury reported in the Pharmaceutical Journal a simple recipe for the use of the aqueous extract of olive leaves as an antipyretic. From the beginning of the 20th century there are references in the literature to the composition and action of olive leaves [5]. In particular, antioxidant [1,2,3], antimicrobial[1,6], antihypertensive [1,4,7,8], vasodilatory [9] and hypoglycemic [10] action for the extract of leaves or for individual components thereof.

The extract of olive leaves and the oleuropeinic acid itself, has been found to have a strong microbicidal action in vitro [1,6,11]. In particular, the extract has been found to be effective in vitro against many pathogens including influenza viruses, herpes, fungi and bacteria.

Oleuropeinic acid is a secoiridoid glucoside (secoiridoid glucoside) characteristic of Oleaceae (Oleaceae) and is the main polyphenolic component of the olive (Olea europaea). It constitutes 6-9% of the dry weight of olive leaves. It is the substance that gives a bitter taste to unripe olives (the polyphenol content in ripe olives is almost half that of unripe olives). In recent years, oleuropeinic acid has been studied for its pharmacological action, particularly its antioxidant, bactericidal and bacteriostatic action, as well as its reduction of "platelet aggregation".

Hydroxytyrosol is the main phenolic compound of the olive fruit. It is the only polyphenol for which the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) accepts beneficial and therapeutic properties for the human organism with a minimum daily dose of 5 mg. It protects the cardiovascular system, has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action and maintains the good health of the brain, skin and joints.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L) has been used since ancient times due to its many positive health effects. Many scientific studies in recent years have given the answer as to why pomegranate was known in antiquity as "the fruit of health".[12-14]  Pomegranate contains large amounts of bioactive components, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, and mainly phenolic acids, such as ellagic acid.

Ellagic acid has attracted attention as a factor that may have dynamic bioactive properties. Its main actions are against obesity and reduction of skin aging. Ellagic acid may offer some protective action against skin wrinkles, reducing the degradation of collagen caused by UVB rays, thereby helping to protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation.
