It is well known that plant sterols have been used for many years with very good results in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). However, less known are the very important similarities that BPH presents at the level of pathophysiology with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA) and make the administration of plant sterols in the treatment of AGA, not only appropriate, but also, under certain conditions, much more effective compared to the various components/formulations used until now. An impediment in the development of effective products against AGA has been the general knowledge regarding the absorption of plant sterols which remains insufficient.
This happens mainly because:
1. It is very difficult to measure the absorption of plant sterols due to the presence and action of cholesterol.
2. In all their traditional forms, phytosterols tend to polymerize forming large crystals of very low bioavailability.
3. Plant sterols are not soluble in water.
The above factors are the main reasons for the extremely low (<5%) assimilation of plant sterols by the human organism, which largely explains their limited use in the context of strategies for dealing with Androgenetic Alopecia.
The Follon® capsules (Caps) contain a specialized combination of plant substances, vitamins and trace elements developed exclusively with the aim of feeding the hair follicles with essential nutrients that improve hair quality, slow down hair loss and activate hair growth. The most important component is a globally patented composition of plant sterols and sterolins in a ratio of 100:1. Specifically, it contains beta-sitosterol and beta-D-glucoside of beta-sitosterol (Moducare Powder Patents: EP0509656, EP0858806), substances that are extracted through the extraction of the fruits of a specific species of conifer trees from Southern Africa.
In contrast to the other forms of plant sterols that present the aforementioned disadvantages, due to the combination of beta-sitosterol and beta-D-glucoside of beta-sitosterol, sufficient esterification of the sterol molecules is achieved and consequently, water solubility and optimal absorption and effectiveness in small doses.
It has been clinically proven that the systematic use of Follon® Caps slows down the rate of hair loss while simultaneously promoting their normal growth.
Specifically, research conducted at the University Clinic of Dermatology of Andreas Sygros Hospital and published in the medical journal Greek Review of Dermatology & Sexual Medicine, proved that the administration of Follon® products in individuals with Androgenetic Alopecia was particularly effective, both in the inhibition of the progression of alopecia and in its improvement. Notably, the results observed in postmenopausal women in whom per os administration of pharmaceutical formulations has extremely limited effectiveness.
The combination of beta-sitosterol and beta-D-glucoside of beta-sitosterol has a clinically proven immunomodulatory action that effectively addresses the microinflammations in the hair follicle area that are largely responsible for hair loss.
Fenugreek
A natural anti-inflammatory component that significantly improves microcirculation in the dermal papilla, a function that is absolutely necessary for the normal growth of hair.
Nettle Extract (Urtica Dioica)
An herb traditionally used in the treatment of AGA (Androgenetic Alopecia) as it has:
High content of vitamins, metals and trace elements – A, B1, B2, C, K1-(P)-(S)-(Si)-(Fe)-(Cl)-(Mg)-(Na)-(Mn)-(K)-(Ca) important for hair growth.
Stimulating properties that contribute to the improvement of microcirculation.
Follon® Caps is also enriched with Folic Acid, Pantothenic Acid, Niacinamide, Vitamin B2 and Vitamin B6, components known and proven to nourish the hair shaft, stimulate hair growth, help in the better absorption of the remaining components and at the same time work synergistically with them.
No. EOPYY: 68335
No side effects or drug interactions.
Available clinical studies.
For best results, it should be used in combination with Follon Ticture and Shampoo.
