Each extended release tablet contains 500 mg titled Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) extract, 80% (400 mg) silymarin content, at least.
Usual Use: One tablet per day.
Properties: Excellent tonic - liver detoxifier. Many of its properties are due to the powerful antioxidant silymarin. It protects against liver damage caused by viruses, free radicals, and various toxins (pollutants, drugs, alcohol, etc.). It stimulates protein synthesis, thus stimulating the regeneration of liver cells (however, it does not stimulate the reproduction of cancerous liver cells!).
Increases the produced glutathione, prevents fat deposition in the liver (fatty liver), is effective in acute and chronic viral hepatitis, reduces liver enzymes, protects against mild and severe (cirrhosis) liver damage caused by alcohol. Extends the life of cirrhotic patients, while improving the results of anti-cirrhotic treatments. Beneficial for psoriasis, due to liver stimulation, neutralization of endo- and exotoxins, reduction of leukotrienes.
Useful in the prevention and treatment of cholelithiasis, since it increases bile solubility and reduces its cholesterol content. Aids digestion. Excellent antidote for the poisonous mushroom Amanita phalloides (if taken shortly before, at the same time or at most 24 hours after the mushroom).
Synergistic herbs: Dandelion, OPC, Artichoke, Turmeric, Schisandra.
Contraindications - Precautions: Milk thistle appears to be extremely safe even in high doses and for long periods. Animal studies have not shown any toxicity. In relatively rare cases, it may cause diarrhea, which usually subsides after a few days.
