Natural Beta Carotene from NOW contains beta-carotene extracted in a natural way from the Dunaliella sallina algae and contains zeaxanthin, cryptoxanthin, and lutein.

Beta-carotene is a provitamin of vitamin A, has an antioxidant effect stronger than the synthetic form of beta-carotene and acts against free radicals. More specifically, it protects the cell membrane from free oxygen, which causes damage to the genes of the cells and oxidizes fatty acids, turning them into toxic molecules.

Vitamin A, which is produced in the human body from beta-carotene, is stored in the liver and when properly activated is released into the blood plasma. The natural balance of carotenoids is what makes this product more bioavailable compared to synthetic beta-carotene.

Beta-carotene in addition to its strong antioxidant effect, protects the skin from ultraviolet radiation by releasing melanin, as it acts as a natural sunscreen with immediate photoprotective action. Furthermore, it provides high resistance to immunosuppression, contributes to the improvement of vision, the slowing down of certain eye diseases and generally to the maintenance of good cell health.

Epidemiological studies have shown that the consumption of carotenoids from fruits and vegetables is associated with the prevention of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, myocardial infarctions, and certain types of neoplasm (cancer).
