Solgar Balance Rhodiola Complex: complex formula with rhodiola
The Solgar Balance Rhodiola Complex is a dietary supplement in phytocapsules, combining four vitamins with herbal extracts and vegetable powders. Each phytocapsule contains 100mg pantothenic acid, 50mg vitamin C, 5mg niacin and 2.5mg vitamin B6, along with 62.5mg rhodiola extract (Rhodiola rosea), 50mg Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus), 25mg L-tyrosine and smaller amounts of other herbal ingredients. The package contains 60 phytocapsules.
It is aimed at adults with a demanding schedule, people with a heavy work schedule, students during exam periods or athletes, who want a multi-component formula instead of individual preparations. It is not intended for persons under 18 years of age.
What do the vitamins in this formula do
The four vitamins in the composition are not a random choice. Pantothenic acid, niacin, vitamin B6 and vitamin C all belong to the group of nutrients that participate in energy metabolism, that is, in the biochemical processes by which the body converts the nutrients in food into usable energy for the cells. All four also carry the approved claim for reducing fatigue and exhaustion.
Pantothenic acid, which is present in the highest amount here, has a special role: it participates in the normal synthesis and metabolism of steroid hormones, vitamin D and some neurotransmitters. Vitamin B6, on the other hand, contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity and normal psychological function. These are functions that concern the normal daily operation of the body, not action against a disease.
How Solgar positions the product
According to the product presentation by Solgar itself, the company describes the following:
- Comprehensive formula with vitamins, minerals and adaptogenic plant ingredients. The term adaptogenic is a descriptive term for the traditional use of herbs and does not constitute an approved category of action.
- Support of the body in managing physical, chemical and environmental stress through rhodiola. The wording comes from the producer and refers to the botanical component.
- Vitamin C, vitamin B6, niacin and pantothenic acid in the formula. These vitamins indeed have approved roles, which we describe with the official formulations below.
- Suitable for dedicated athletes or busy people. This is a positioning of the audience, not a health claim.
- Contains antioxidants. The composition includes citrus bioflavonoids and vegetable powders, along with vitamin C.
The above statements are attributed to the producer. Rhodiola, Siberian ginseng, Roman chamomile, licorice and L-tyrosine do not have an approved health claim from the EFSA and the related references remain the subject of research and evaluation.**
