To determine the size, measurement of the circumference of the ankle on the bone, the calf at the thickest point and the thigh at the thickest point (approximately 4 fingers below the pubic region) is required. Also, the total height and weight of the patient are required. Measurements should be taken in the morning (when the legs are not swollen), the patient standing upright and not wearing other stockings.
