Metals & Trace Elements

The metals and trace elements are essential inorganic elements, in small or larger quantities, for the normal functioning of the body. They participate in a multitude of processes, from bone structure to energy metabolism and immune system function.

Metals and trace elements in our catalog

• Calcium: a basic structural component of bones and teeth.
• Magnesium: participates in muscle and nerve function, energy metabolism.
• Iron: essential for the formation of hemoglobin and oxygen transport.
• Zinc: participates in immune system, skin, fertility.
• Selenium: antioxidant action, thyroid function.
• Iodine: essential for the function of the thyroid gland.
• Copper: participates in connective tissue, nervous system, coloring of skin and hair.
• Manganese: participates in bones, metabolism, antioxidant protection of cells.
• Chromium: participates in the metabolism of macronutrients and in maintaining normal blood sugar levels.

When do you need a metal supplement

The needs for metals vary depending on age, gender, diet and special conditions such as pregnancy. Some metals, such as iron and calcium, have increased needs in certain population groups (e.g. women of reproductive age, older adults). Many metals interact with each other in absorption (e.g. calcium and iron, zinc and copper), so the correct dosage and combination are important.

Forms of metal supplements

Metals circulate in inorganic forms (e.g. oxides, carbonate salts) and in chelated (organic) forms, bound to amino acids, which are generally considered well absorbed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I take calcium and iron together?

Calcium can reduce iron absorption. It is recommended to take them at a different time of the day, following the pharmacist's advice.

Which metal do I need the most?

It depends on your individual diet and condition. A blood test can show any deficiencies, in consultation with your doctor.

Are iron supplements safe?

Iron in high doses can be dangerous, especially for children. Keep out of reach of children and follow the recommended dosage.

What is the difference between chelated and inorganic metal form?

Chelated forms are bound to amino acids and are generally considered well tolerated and absorbed compared to some inorganic forms.

Can I take multiple metals together in one preparation?

Yes, there are combined preparations. Check the quantities so as not to exceed the recommended daily intakes.
