Dietary supplement from fresh St. John's wort flowers
The Hypericum perforatum is a small herbaceous perennial herb that thrives in countries of Europe, Asia, North Africa, and the Americas. It blooms in the summer months and has characteristic golden-yellow flowers that show stigmas, giving them a 'perforated' appearance when placed in light. Hypericum is rich in flavonoids and its main active ingredients are hypericin and hyperforin.
The herb is known by various names such as St. John’s wort, balm herb, and sword grass. The name hypericum comes from the Greek words 'hyper' and 'eikon' as it was said to be placed above icons to ward off evil. Tradition also states that the name St. John’s wort originated from the knights of St. John of Jerusalem who treated the wounds of injured crusaders with the herb. Hence it also received the name sword grass as it was used as a healing agent for sword wounds.
Each tablet contains: 66mg dry extract from fresh St. John's wort flowers (Hypericum perforatum) corresponding to 363μg hypericin.
