Bepanthol Baby Balm 30gr: the size of the diaper bag

The Bepanthol Baby Balm is an ointment for protecting the baby’s skin from diaper rash, in a 30 gram jar. Its formula contains 5% provitamin B5 (panthenol) and has a rich, semi-transparent texture that spreads in a thin layer on the epidermis. It does not contain fragrance, dyes, preservatives or mercury.

The small jar is the obvious choice for an ointment for baby diaper rash that travels: it fits in the diaper bag, in the stroller bag or in the maternity bag, and it is the most cost-effective way to try the Bepanthol Baby Balm before moving to a larger package. Many parents keep one jar at home and one in the bag, so it is never missing during diaper changes outside the home.

Why does diaper rash appear and what does the protective shield do

According to the manufacturer, the Baby Balm creates a transparent protective shield on the surface of the skin, protecting the baby’s skin from the causes of irritation, while thanks to provitamin B5 it supports the natural process of skin repair from within. Also, according to the manufacturer, it scientifically proven to reduce friction during application, avoiding further skin irritation.

In the diaper area, there are three factors that stress the skin. First, moisture, which softens the keratin layer and makes it more vulnerable. Second, the friction of the fabric and the diaper on this very softened skin. Third, prolonged contact with urine and feces. Baby skin is thinner than adult skin and its barrier has not fully matured, so it reacts faster. A thin fatty layer inserted between the skin and the diaper simultaneously limits all three stimuli without compromising the skin.

When is the 30 gram jar useful

  • First days. In the maternity bag and in the first weeks at home, when diaper changes are frequent but the amount per application is minimal.
  • Diaper bag. It fits next to diapers and baby wipes without adding bulk or weight.
  • Trial before commitment. If you have not used the product before, the 30gr has the lowest total cost among the three packages.
  • Second point of care. In the nursery, with grandma or at the cottage, where the baby spends time.
  • Breastfeeding outside the home. For the nipple area, a use explicitly mentioned by the manufacturer.

How to use

Form: ointment in a 30gr jar.
Application: «The Bepanthol Baby Balm is used daily, at every diaper change.»

Clean and dry the area well before application, because the moisture trapped under a fatty layer works in reverse. Apply a thin layer, without needing to cover the skin like a mask. Nursing mothers should remove any product residue from the nipple before breastfeeding. Only for external use, away from the eyes. Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children. If irritation persists, worsens, bubbles, pus or fever appear, consult a pediatrician.

FAQs

What is the difference from the 100gr package?

The product is the same, only the quantity changes. The 30gr is the travel and trial size, while the 100gr is the daily home use package and is cheaper per gram.

And from the 200gr package?

The 200gr is the most economical option per gram and is aimed at those who already know that they use it regularly, often and for the mother too. The 30gr has the opposite profile: lower total cost, higher cost per gram, maximum portability.

From what age can it be used?

The manufacturer states that it is even friendly for the fragile skin of premature newborns and is suitable for all ages of babies. There is no lower age limit.

Does it contain cortisone or antibiotic?

No. It is a cosmetic care product, without cortisone and without antibiotic. If the pediatrician has recommended medication for the area, follow his or her instructions.

How long does a 30gr jar last?

It depends on the frequency of changes and how freely you use it. With a thin layer at each diaper change, a jar of this size usually covers a few weeks of occasional use, which is why it works best as a spare or travel jar.

Can it be used on the baby’s face or cheeks?

The manufacturer intends it for protecting the baby’s skin from diaper rash and for the nipple area. For face irritations or cheek dryness, ask your pediatrician or pharmacist which product is suitable.

Does it treat diaper rash?

No. It is not antifungal. If the rash is intensely red with clear borders, small blisters around it or does not subside with usual care, a pediatrician’s evaluation is needed.

Why does it not contain zinc?

The manufacturer’s choice is a transparent, non-occlusive protection that is easily removed without intense friction in the next change. Zinc gives a white, more difficult to remove coating.

Can the mother use it on the nipple?

Yes, the manufacturer states it is also suitable for breastfeeding mothers, as it keeps the sensitive nipple area soft. Remove any residue before breastfeeding.
