Bepanthol Intensive Face and Eye Cream: intensive care for very dry face

The Bepanthol Intensive Face and Eye Cream is a 50ml cosmetic face cream with a rich but non-greasy texture that absorbs quickly and leaves no shine. Its formula is based on provitamin B5 (panthenol) and madecassoside, supplemented with karite butter, sunflower oil, squalane, ceramides and cholesterol. It is a 2-in-1 product: the same formula covers the face and the sensitive area around the eyes, without the need for a separate eye cream.

It is aimed at those looking for cream for very dry face, intensive hydration for face and eyes or eye cream with panthenol, for skin that tightens after cleansing, peels on the cheekbones or looks tired and dehydrated by cold, air conditioning and frequent sun exposure. According to the manufacturer, the formula is non-comedogenic, dermatologically tested and suitable for all skin types.

How panthenol, ceramides and madecassoside work on dry skin

Panthenol is the provitamin form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). In the skin it is converted to pantothenic acid and works in two ways: it retains water in the keratin layer because it is a strong hygroscopic molecule, and it supports the natural process of epidermis regeneration. That is why panthenol is the common active ingredient of all Bepanthol series, from the classic body cream to face products.

However, very dry skin not only lacks water, but also lipids. The epidermal barrier works like a wall: keratinocytes are the bricks and lipids, namely ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, are the mortar. When the mortar thins, water escapes (transepidermal water loss) and the skin becomes rough, sensitive and prone to irritation. The formula contains three types of ceramides (Ceramide NP, AP and EOP), cholesterol, phytosphingosine and sphingosine, which are the building materials of this mortar, along with urea, sodium PCA, lactate, inositol and glycine that belong to the natural moisturizing factor of the skin.

Madecassoside is an active ingredient derived from the plant Centella asiatica. In the cosmetic literature it is described as a soothing and antioxidant ingredient that, according to the manufacturer, enhances collagen synthesis and improves the sense of elasticity and suppleness. In a self-assessment of 20 women over 14 days, as published by the manufacturer, 95% reported hydrated skin on the face and eye area and 91% smoother and softer skin.

Ingredients one by one

  • Panthenol (provitamin B5). The characteristic active ingredient of Bepanthol. It retains moisture and supports the natural regeneration of the epidermis.
  • Madecassoside. An active ingredient from Centella asiatica, with soothing and antioxidant action, for skin that easily reddens and irritates.
  • Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Karite butter). A rich lipid component that softens the surface and reduces the feeling of tightness.
  • Ceramides NP, AP and EOP with cholesterol. They replenish the lipids of the epidermal barrier and help the skin to retain its own water.
  • Squalane and Helianthus Annuus Hybrid Oil (sunflower oil). Lightweight emollients that give softness without heavy, greasy feeling.
  • Urea, Sodium PCA, lactate, inositol, glycine. Ingredients of the natural moisturizing factor, they draw and retain water in the keratin layer.
  • Niacinamide and tocopherol (vitamin E). They complement the formula with antioxidant action and even skin tone.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Bepanthol Intensive Hydrating Face Cream 75ml and Bepanthol?

The Hydrating Face Cream has a lighter texture, based on 5% provitamin B5 with vitamins A, C and E in liposomes and is intended for daily hydration of the face. The Intensive is richer, adds ceramides, karite butter and madecassoside and covers the eye area. For very dry or distressed skin choose the Intensive, for normal daily hydration choose the Hydrating.

What is the difference between Bepanthol and Bepanthol Anti-Wrinkle Face, Eye and Neck Cream?

The Anti-Wrinkle has a different target: peptides and vitamin A for the appearance of wrinkles and suppleness. The Intensive aims at hydration and restoration of the feeling of comfort in very dry skin. If your main concern is dryness, start with the Intensive.

Does it go around the eyes?
