Doctor's Formulas Memoprotect: what it is and for whom

Memoprotect is a dietary supplement in tablets that combines three substances of research interest, acetyl-L-carnitine, citicoline and homotaurine, along with four nutrients with approved health claims, magnesium, pantothenic acid, biotin and vitamin D3.

It is aimed at adults who want to nutritionally support their nervous system during periods of increased demand, such as intensive work cycles, exams or phases of intense fatigue. It is not a medicine and does not replace a balanced diet, sleep and physical activity, which remain fundamental.

Ingredients one by one

Acetyl-L-carnitine

It is the acetylated form of L-carnitine, a molecule that the body synthesizes from the amino acids lysine and methionine and which we also find in the diet, mainly in red meat. Acetyl-L-carnitine has been extensively studied in the international literature for its role in the metabolism of fatty acids within the cell. For carnitine and its forms, there is no approved health claim in the European Union, so the information here is purely descriptive.

Citicoline

Citicoline, also known as CDP-choline, is a compound containing choline and cytidine and is a natural intermediate in the synthesis of phospholipids of cell membranes. It is the subject of active research internationally. It does not carry an approved health claim, so it is described here only as to what it is.

Homotaurine

Homotaurine is an amino acid type molecule, a natural analogue of taurine, found in some seaweeds. For it, there is no approved health claim, so its mention remains descriptive.

Magnesium

Magnesium contributes to normal function of the nervous system*, normal psychological function*, normal energy-yielding metabolism* and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue*. It also participates in normal muscle function* and electrolyte balance*.

Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5)

Pantothenic acid contributes to normal mental performance*, normal synthesis and metabolism of certain neurotransmitters*, normal energy-yielding metabolism* and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue*.

Biotin

Biotin was formerly known as vitamin H. It contributes to normal function of the nervous system*, normal psychological function*, normal energy-yielding metabolism* and normal metabolism of macronutrients*.

Vitamin D3

Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system*, maintenance of normal muscle function*, maintenance of normal bone and teeth* and to the normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus*.

Who is it suitable for

For adults seeking nutritional support for the nervous system and psychological function. For people with demanding schedules or mentally tiring work. For students during exam periods. For those who feel tired and want ingredients that help reduce tiredness and fatigue*.

Not intended for children. If you are taking medication, pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist first.

Frequently asked questions

How many tablets a day should I take?

Follow the dosage indicated on the packaging and do not exceed the recommended daily dose. If in doubt, ask your pharmacist.

Morning or evening?

Most people prefer in the morning, with a meal, to remember it more easily. There is no specific time restriction on the label.

With food or on an empty stomach?

Taking it with a meal helps those with a sensitive stomach. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so a meal containing fat is a reasonable choice.

How long until I see a difference?

Dietary supplements do not work like medicines and do not promise results in a specific time frame. Consistent, daily use over a period of weeks, along with proper sleep and nutrition, is reasonable.

Does it interact with my medications?

If you are on a treatment, especially neurological or psychiatric, inform your doctor before starting. Magnesium should be taken two hours away from tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics.

How long does the package last?

The package contains 30 tablets. With one tablet a day it lasts a month, but the actual duration depends on the dosage indicated on the package.
