Doctor's Formulas Vitamin C 1000mg 150ml: what is it and who is it for

Here vitamin C comes not in tablet form but in liquid, oral form with liposomal formulation. The 150 ml bottle is taken with the teaspoon, in a dose of 5 ml per day. It is the form chosen by those who have difficulty swallowing pills, those who cannot tolerate the size of one gram tablets, and those who simply prefer something that can be drunk.

The liposomal formulation means that vitamin C is enclosed within microscopic vesicles of phospholipids, the liposomes. This encapsulation technology is widely used in the supplement industry and aims to better utilize the ingredients. The vitamin C in the preparation is in the form of ascorbic acid and sodium ascorbate, that is, in a combination of its acidic form and its milder salt.

Ingredients one by one

Vitamin C as ascorbic acid

The classic, pure form of vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system* and to the protection of cells from oxidative stress*.

Vitamin C as sodium ascorbate

The sodium salt of ascorbic acid, with neutral pH. The combination of the two forms is common in liquid formulations, where acidity affects both taste and stability. Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of fatigue and tiredness*, to the normal energy-yielding metabolism* and to the normal psychological function*.

The liposomal matrix

Liposomes are spherical vesicles with a double layer of phospholipids, a structure similar to that of cell membranes. In liquid formulations this form is a milky liquid and for this reason the product needs to be shaken before each use, so that the content is homogeneous in each dose.

The role of vitamin C in tissues

Vitamin C contributes to the normal formation of collagen for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth*, to the normal function of the nervous system* and to the regeneration of the reduced form of vitamin E*. In addition, it increases the absorption of iron*.

Who is it suitable for

It suits adults who have difficulty with tablets, the elderly, people with swallowing problems and those who prefer a more palatable form of intake. The liquid form also allows for easier adjustment of the amount with the spoon, always in agreement with your healthcare professional.

It is not the best choice for travel, because after the first opening the bottle should be kept in the refrigerator. It is not intended for children without a doctor's recommendation. People with a history of kidney stones or kidney failure, as well as those monitoring their sodium intake, should consult a doctor before use. Notification number E.O.P.: 14343 / 11-2-2016.

Frequently asked questions

How much do I take and how do I measure it?

The dose is 5 ml per day, that is, one teaspoon. Shake the bottle well before each use.

How many days does the bottle last me?

The bottle is 150 ml. At a daily dose of 5 ml it corresponds to 30 doses, that is, one month.

Why does it have to go in the fridge?

After the first opening the product is kept in the refrigerator. It is a liquid preparation, so cooling is necessary to maintain its quality. In addition, it must be consumed within 45 days from the first opening.

What happens if the 45 days pass?

The remaining content should not be used. The 45-day deadline refers to the quality of the product after exposure to air and is not related to the expiry date of the sealed bottle.

Morning or evening, with food?

No specific time is specified. Many prefer it in the morning so as not to forget it. It can be taken with or without food, depending on what suits you best.

Can I dilute it in water or juice?

The product is taken as is, with the spoon. If you prefer, you can drink a little water immediately afterwards. Avoid mixing with hot drinks.

How does it differ from vitamin C tablets?

The active ingredient is the same vitamin. They differ in form, method of intake and storage. The liquid does not require swallowing a pill, but needs a refrigerator after opening and consumption within a certain period of time.
