It all started in Chicago in 1899, when Dr William Mathias Scholl at the age of 17 was working in a small shoe store, which specialized in the sale of comfortable footwear something that sparked his curiosity and wanting to deal with the problems that people faced on their feet he studied at medical school and specialized in the anatomy and physiology of the feet.
His first discovery under the brand name Foot-Eazer did not take long to appear.
This innovative product consisted of a pad that, when placed in the shoes, strengthens and eventually balances the arch of the foot.
Continuing his upward trajectory, he founded the College of Podiatric Treatment and Orthopedics of Illinois which became an important educational institution in the field in the United States of America and at the same time established the Annual National Week for Foot Comfort offering free examinations of the lower extremities.
For the next decades a series of discoveries followed his successful activity such as the first line of shoes specially designed for the care of the anatomy of the foot, graduated compression stockings for the relief of swollen ankles and varicose veins and shoe insoles that had a huge impact on the market. In the constant competition he launches the line of anatomical sandals Pescura made of oak wood that emphasized the feet at every step giving them style and comfort.
The philosophy of Dr William Scholl, which culminated in 1968, and the purpose of his life was to make people realize the importance of taking care of their lower extremities for their health.
