Astaxanthin belongs to carotenoids, constituting one of the strongest natural plant antioxidants. It acts synergistically with the other carotenoids and especially with zeaxanthin and lutein. In this particular formulation, the astaxanthin used is 100% natural origin, derived from a green freshwater algae (seaweed) called Haematococcus pluvialis.
The algae used in the preparation of this formulation are cultivated in a climate-controlled environment in the Arava desert. The 3-month cultivation process mimics the accumulation of astaxanthin in nature, leading to the preparation of an exceptionally pure and high-quality algae. The extraction process of astaxanthin following the cultivation of the algae uses supercritical CO2 extraction technology, which is environmentally friendly and ensures the absence of chemical impurities in the final product.
The astaxanthin produced by this method is in the natural form 3S – 3’S. In contrast to the natural astaxanthin used in this formulation, synthetic astaxanthin of competitive formulations has the structure Rs-3S or RS-R’S. The difference in chemical structure between natural and synthetic astaxanthin makes the biological activity of synthetic astaxanthin questionable.
Two capsules of the formulation Astaxanthin by Lamberts, provide 8mg of natural and biologically active astaxanthin, a level comparable to that used in published clinical studies. Additionally, it provides 24mg of natural vitamin E, which contributes to the protection of cells against oxidative stress*.
The Astaxanthin 8mg, all formulations of Lamberts, are manufactured in the United Kingdom in accordance with the strict standards of the Pharmaceutical GMP (Pharmaceutical GMP).
