Typical Use: One tablet per day.
Each tablet contains 2000 mcg (2 mg) biotin and 800 mcg folic acid. Collaborative, gradual release, hypoallergenic formula, particularly suitable for pregnant and lactating women.
Other names for biotin: vitamin B-7, vitamin H, coenzyme R. Biotin is an important coenzyme that, acting synergistically with other B vitamins, is essential for the synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates, and fatty acids. It is not considered a true vitamin because it can be synthesized within our organism by beneficial intestinal bacteria. Therefore, its deficiency is not common and is limited to specific population groups, such as those who take long-term antibiotics or sulfonamides (drugs that destroy beneficial intestinal bacteria), certain newborns (very few), because breast milk is poor in biotin, also newborns with specific genetic disorders, as well as individuals (especially bodybuilders) who consume large amounts of raw eggs. Indeed, raw egg white contains avidin, a protein that prevents the absorption of biotin.
Biotin deficiency can cause nausea, loss of appetite, depression, muscle pain, vomiting, high cholesterol, inflammation or pallor of the skin, anemia, and, in infants, seborrheic dermatitis. Especially for hair loss and baldness, taking biotin gives very good results if there is a deficiency in the body. In the opposite case, the results are doubtful.
There is strong evidence that biotin helps in the prevention and treatment of a syndrome that occurs in people who undergo long-term hemodialysis and resembles Alzheimer's disease, since among its symptoms are loss of orientation, speech abnormalities, memory loss, tremor, difficulty in walking.
Biotin has no toxicity or side effects.
