Biotin or vitamin B7 is a water-soluble vitamin essential for the normal growth and functioning of the body. B7 is widely known as "the beauty vitamin" as it acts as a key regulator in gluconeogenesis, in the synthesis of fatty acids and in the metabolism of protein amino acids in the skin, hair, and nail cells, thereby improving thin and brittle nails. Biotin works closely with the other B vitamins B2, B6, niacin (B3), and A and has beneficial properties in inflammatory skin conditions.
