The Hawthorn berry or Hawthorn has been extensively studied for its ability to increase endurance in patients with heart failure type II.
The Hawthorn is a thorny woody shrub found throughout Europe and Greece in sparse forests and hedges, a close relative of firethorn.

It was known in the Middle Ages as a symbol of hope, and its application concerned many diseases and ailments.
Its active ingredients are bioflavonoids (rutin, quercetin), triterpenoids, cyanogenic glycosides, amines (trimethylamine - only in the flowers), polyphenols, coumarins and tannins.

The majority of studies showed improvement in clinical symptoms (fatigue, palpitations, shortness of breath during exercise), performance, and tolerance to stress.
Traditionally used generally for heart diseases, for blood pressure as a vasodilator, for high cholesterol, for reducing anxiety as a sedative, for treating tapeworm, for gastrointestinal infections, and for improving the condition of varicose veins.

The Hawthorn may interact with many prescription drugs used to treat heart disease.
If you have a heart condition, do not use Hawthorn berry without the approval of your doctor.
