Melatonin is a hormone that is produced endogenously in the human body by the pineal gland located in the brain. Melatonin production is inhibited by exposure of the human organism to light, while it is enhanced by exposure to darkness. Since melatonin plays an important role in sleep regulation, it is also known as the sleep hormone.* If the biological clock is disrupted, e.g. due to jet lag, the additional intake of melatonin can have beneficial effects.**
*Melatonin helps to reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. The beneficial effects are achieved by consuming 1 mg of melatonin before bedtime.

USE
