The Solgar Liquid Melatonin is a dietary supplement with melatonin, a natural hormone involved in regulating the sleep-wake cycle, in liquid cherry flavor. Each drop provides 3mg of melatonin.
Melatonin helps reduce the time it takes to fall asleep when taken in a 1mg dose shortly before bedtime. It also helps relieve the subjective feeling of jet lag, in a 0.5mg dose. These are the approved health claims under Regulation (EC) 1924/2006, in the specified doses. The dose of 3mg per drop exceeds the reference dose of the claim — check the dosage with your doctor if you need a lower dose.
Melatonin does not have an approved claim of antioxidant action, nor a claim related to heart rate.
Do not operate machinery or drive immediately after taking. Not recommended for children, adolescents, pregnant or breastfeeding women without medical advice. Melatonin may interact with certain medications (such as anticoagulants, immunosuppressants, antidiabetics) — consult your doctor before taking if you are on medication. Persistent or severe insomnia requires medical evaluation.
