What is uridine monophosphate (UMP)?;The
UMP is a nucleotide that is a structural component of the DNA and RNA of the cellular nucleus of neurons. As a structural component, it is synthesized by the organism itself and its deficiency causes destruction in the myelin sheaths of neurons. Conversely, possible destruction, from other damages, of the nerve fibers leading to conduction disorders and accompanied by pain, require increased levels of UMP from the organism, leading to the necessity (of UMP) to be taken externally. A multicenter study, randomized, double-blind, controlled, with placebo, in 80 patients with lumbar pain. The study group received uridine monophosphate-5 (UMP), while the control group received placebo.
A 25% reduction in pain was achieved 24 hours after the administration of UMP, which gave a much better result compared to the placebo group.
