Eye Masks and Patches: why the area needs its own product

The skin under the eye is one of the thinnest in the body and has few sebaceous glands. It does not produce the lipid layer that keeps moisture elsewhere, loses water faster and shows fatigue immediately. At the same time, vessels pass underneath that can be seen through the thin skin and give the blue or purple shade we call dark circles.

The patches work on these facts in three ways. First, the hydrogel keeps constant contact and prevents evaporation, so the skin swells slightly and the fine lines of dehydration are less visible. Second, the low temperature, especially if the pack stays in the fridge, temporarily limits the feeling of puffiness. Third, ingredients like caffeine and niacinamide improve the appearance of the shade.

Forms and what each serves

Hydrogel patches in a jar are the most practical solution for frequent use and travel. Single-use packs in a pouch are healthier and more convenient if you use them sparingly. Creamy eye masks in a tube suit dry areas that peel, while reusable metal or cold masks target puffiness exclusively. Daily care is covered by eye creams and masks.

What to look for in the composition

• Caffeine: for morning puffiness and feeling of heaviness.
• Hyaluronic acid and glycerin: visually fill the dehydration lines.
• Niacinamide: improves the appearance of the shade over time.
• Peptides and adenosine: for fine expression lines.
• Vitamin C in mild form: gives freshness to the area.
• Without fragrances and essential oils: the area reacts easily.

What people choose

The Apivita Express Beauty Eye Mask with grape or ginkgo biloba is the most requested single-use in the pharmacy. The Natura Siberica Lab Biome covers almost all variations, from hydration with hyaluronic acid to correction and shine, in packs of sixty pieces. The Youth Lab Brightening Vit-C and the Youth Lab Retinol Reboot work on more targeted needs, while the Garnier SkinActive and the KOCOSTAR Princess Gold are the economical options. For more intensive care the Filorga Optim-Eyes and the Ahava Dead Sea Osmoter are requested.

How to apply correctly

Ten to twenty minutes are enough, on clean and dry skin. They are placed on the bony contour, about half a centimeter below the eyelashes, never on the moving eyelid and never so close that the product gets into the eye. After removal do not rinse: gently tap with your finger to let the residue absorb and continue with the eye cream. They are one of the few products that can be used daily, so they have a natural place in the morning, before makeup.

Frequently asked questions

Do dark circles go away?

Their appearance improves, especially when they are due to fatigue and dehydration. When the cause is hereditary hyperpigmentation or anatomical depression, the result is limited and worth discussing with a dermatologist.

Can I put them every day?

Yes, the hydrating formulas can withstand daily use. If they contain retinol, limit to twice a week and only in the evening.

Why do they slip and fall?

Usually because the skin was still wet or oily from cream. Dry the area well before placement.

Do they help puffy eyes in the morning?

Yes, especially if kept in the fridge. The coolness and light pressure make a noticeable difference within fifteen minutes.
