The Solgar DGL is a dietary supplement with titled extract of licorice in deglycyrrhizinated form (Deglycyrrhised, DGL), in phytocapsules.
The product does not currently have an approved health claim by the EFSA based on Regulation (EC) 1924/2006. It does not have a claim of antiallergic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial or antiviral action, nor a claim of detoxification or "stimulation" of the adrenal glands. It does not have a claim for treatment of flu, cold, herpes, allergic rhinitis, or digestive disorders.
Infections, allergic conditions and persistent digestive problems always need diagnosis and treatment by a doctor. The product is not a substitute for medical treatment.
The deglycyrrhizinated form (without glycyrrhizin) is often chosen to avoid known problems of excessive intake of regular licorice (such as hypertension, sodium retention). Nevertheless, consult your doctor before taking if you have hypertension.
