Evening primrose oil is derived from the seeds of the plant Oenothera biennis and contains linoleic acid, gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), oleic acid, and other fatty acids. Gamma-linolenic acid is the subject of scientific research, particularly in relation to women's health, however it does not currently have an approved health claim from the EFSA, so it is presented here as an ingredient, without a specific claim of effect on menopause symptoms, premenstrual syndrome, hormones, or the cardiovascular system.
It suits adults who want to cover their intake of this plant oil as part of a balanced diet.
