Everything a patient with AMD needs, in the right amounts, in just one capsule.
The Nutrof® Total is a dietary supplement for eye conditions, developed by dietitians and ophthalmologists specializing in the retina.
The composition of Nutrof® Total provides patients with AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration) antioxidants, macular pigments and omega-3 fatty acids to supplement their dietary deficiencies.
General:
One of the most important sensory organs of the human body is the eye which is constantly exposed to light. Sunlight and especially UV radiation in combination with oxygen produce free radicals which cause cellular damage and degenerative changes. The antioxidants present in the tissues protect against free radicals and oxidative stress.
One of the most common degenerative diseases of the eye, due to oxidative stress, is Age-related Macular Degeneration Dry type (dry AMD). So far, there is no treatment or surgical management of dry AMD. To reduce the risk of developing AMD or to slow the progression of the disease, it is necessary for the body's protective mechanism to function and be strengthened by antioxidant vitamins and enzymes as reported by the AREDS study.
Essential components for protection against AMD:
The AREDS study showed that taking antioxidant vitamins and minerals reduces:
- The risk of progression of AMD by 25%
- The risk of loss of visual acuity by 19%
The Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant, antiangiogenic and anti-inflammatory substance found in red grapes. Regular intake of Resveratrol reduces the likelihood of progression of AMD by 40%.
The macular pigments (Lutein and Zeaxanthin) are found in the retina and absorb harmful UV radiation. The concentration of Lutein and Zeaxanthin decreases with age, resulting in the macular degeneration being exposed to UV radiation and free radicals. The Carma study reports that daily intake of Lutein and Zeaxanthin together with antioxidants reduces the morphological progression of AMD. Also, the LAST study showed that daily intake of 10mg lutein for 12 months improved visual acuity and recovery from blur.
The Omega-3 fatty acids are important components in the structure and function of the retina. Studies have shown that high intake of Omega-3 fatty acids reduced the likelihood of AMD by up to 38%.
All of the above are essential components for eye function and are not produced by the human body, so intake must be through food. Additionally, patients with AMD should take dietary supplements with antioxidant vitamins and minerals, macular pigments, omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients.
The Nutrof® Total provides the patient with the necessary components in the right amounts in just one capsule.
