Vitamin K has two natural forms, K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 plays a role in blood clotting, while vitamin K2 acts extrahepatically and plays a primary role in preventing the accumulation of calcium in the arteries, which creates atherosclerotic plaques, while at the same time it is the key for its entry into the bone matrix. This action is based on 2 different functions:

Against atherosclerosis, activating the so-called matrix gla protein (MGP), which inhibits the deposition of calcium in the arteries (as is known, atherosclerotic plaques consist of 20% calcium).
Regarding the absorption of calcium in bones, K2 is responsible for the activation of osteocalcin, which transports calcium to the bones, mineralizes the spongy bone and also promotes the synthesis of tooth enamel. Without K2, osteocalcin is deactivated and cannot transport calcium.

For these reasons, vitamin K2 becomes unique for the body, since its levels determine whether calcium will be directed to the bones or to soft tissues and arteries for deposition.
For adults, 1 tablet daily, preferably after a meal.
