Normal-Combination Skin

Firmness for normal to combination skin, without weight and shine

Combination skin doesn't stop being combination just because you turn forty-five. The T zone, that is, the forehead, nose and chin, continues to shine midday, the pores remain visible, while the cheeks and jawline start asking for something more supportive. It's the most uncomfortable condition for product selection, because most firming creams are designed with heavy textures.

The solution is not to choose something lighter and compromise on fewer actives. Modern gel-cream, fluid and powdery formulas give the same ingredients with a matte finish. And a correction that often needs to be made: shine doesn't mean the skin is hydrated. A combination skin can be simultaneously oily on the surface and dehydrated deeper down.

How to choose a texture

Look for indications such as gel-creme, legere, light, powdery or matifiante. These formulations absorb in seconds and leave no film, so makeup sits well and doesn't move. If in practice your skin pulls at night, switch: light texture in the morning, something more nourishing than the one for normal to dry skin at night. If you're having trouble deciding, formulations for all skin types are a safe middle ground.

Ingredients that suit combination skin

• Niacinamide: regulates the appearance of shine and improves the look of pores.
• Hyaluronic acid: moisture without oiliness, the most basic ingredient here.
• Peptides: support the feeling of density without adding oils.
• Vitamin C and antioxidants: for glow and uniformity in a skin that easily looks dull.
• Squalane in a small percentage: softness without clogging pores.
• Non-comedogenic indication: useful criterion when the T zone still makes mistakes.

Popular choices

The Vichy Neovadiol has a special version for normal to combination skin in menopause and is one of the most sought after. The Vichy Liftactiv Supreme covers the same need with a more classic approach. The Lierac Lift Integral in gel-creme form is one of the most successful light firming creams, as is the Nuxe Merveillance Lift in its powdery version. The Apivita Beevine Elixir Light and the Korres White Spruce are the Greek suggestions with a light texture, while the Darphin Stimulskin Plus and the Skincode Prestige are in the most premium range.

Practical, in everyday life

Don't double cleanse to chase away shine. A gentle cleanse in the morning and evening is enough, while aggressive cleansing usually increases sebum production. Apply a thin layer of cream on the whole face and a little more on the cheeks and jawline, where the need is greater. Wait two minutes before sunscreen or makeup.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I shine within a few hours even though the cream is light?

Often it's due to surface dehydration or too intense cleansing. Try a milder cleanser and consistent hydration for two weeks before changing cream.

Can I use a different product per zone?

Yes, and it works well. Light texture in the T zone, richer in the cheeks and neck.

Will the firming cream clog my pores?

No, if it's designed for combination skin. Check the non-comedogenic indication and prefer gel or fluid textures.

Do I need a matte finish?

Only if you're bothered by shine. The matte finish is an aesthetic choice and doesn't add care by itself. For intense oiliness see the category oily and acne.

The text is informational and concerns cosmetic products. If oiliness is accompanied by persistent blemishes or inflammation, evaluation is done by a dermatologist.
