Minerals are inorganic substances that are not synthesized by the human organism, which is why the levels of minerals in humans depend exclusively on their dietary intake. They actively participate in the regulation of various physiological functions, including the transport of oxygen to cells and the maintenance of the proper functioning of the nervous system. They are also essential for the development, maintenance, and restoration of tissues and bones. Minerals are divided into two main groups, macrominerals and trace elements, based on the amount required by our organism. Generally, any metal required in an amount of less than 15 mg per day in our diet is called a trace element.
