The Solgar Calcium Magnesium Plus Boron is a dietary supplement in tablets, with a daily dose of 3 tablets providing 1000mg calcium, 400mg magnesium and 3mg boron. The use of three different salts for each metal, carbonate, gluconate and citrate, is a design choice of the producer. The formula is stated as vegan and contains no sugar, starch, gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, yeast, preservatives, sweeteners, artificial flavors or colors.
It suits adults who consume little dairy, either by choice or due to lactose intolerance, and are looking for another source of calcium. It is of interest to women of mature age who want to firmly cover their needs for the two skeleton metals. With three tablets a day, the pack of 100 pieces is sufficient for 33 days, just over a month. The three tablets can be divided into the meals of the day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Dietary supplements should not be used as a substitute for a balanced diet.
Boron should not be taken by women who suffer or are prone to conditions related to high levels of estrogens. For all calcium preparations the following also applies: people with hyperparathyroidism or cancer should not take them without a doctor’s advice and monitoring. They should not be combined with antihypertensive drugs without medical advice, and especially with calcium channel blockers they may interfere with the action of the drug. Calcium reduces the absorption of bisphosphonates, fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines and fluoride, so a distance of at least three hours is kept from other drugs. The simultaneous intake with tamoxifen may excessively increase calcium levels in the blood.
